The India A squad which will take part in the upcoming ACC Men’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup was announced on Monday with Tilak Varma named the skipper of the side while Abhishek Sharma will serve as his deputy.
This will be the sixth edition of the Emerging Asia Cup and will be held in Oman with eight teams in contention with the tournament scheduled from October 18-27. Eight teams are split into two groups of four each where matches will be held in a round-robin format. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals.
India A are placed in Group B with Oman, Pakistan A and UAE while Afghanistan A, Bangladesh A, Hong Kong and Sri Lanka A form Group A. India A will begin their campaign by facing Pakistan A on October 19 at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground in Muscat. Last year, Pakistan A beat India A by 128 runs in the final.

After Pakistan, India will take on UAE and Oman on October 21 and 23 respectively. If they make it to the next round, the semifinals will be on Friday, October 25 while the final will be on Sunday, October 27.
Alternatively the selectors will name a strong India A squad in the coming days for the tour to Australia. Since this is an Emerging Tournament, they have picked white ball specialists with potential. Several of these players were also part of the Emerging Tournament held in Sri Lanka last year.
