Rajasthan Royals off-spinner R Ashwin has picked his all-time Indian Premier League (IPL) XI. The 37-year-old has opted for Chennai Super Kings player MS Dhoni to lead the side.
On his side, Ashwin has picked up Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as his openers who have commendable records in the IPL. At three gutsy left-hander Suresh Raina makes the cut who has played a key role in CSK’s success over the years.
At number four Ashwin’s choice was Suryakumar Yadav who in the last few years has not only been a pillar of Mumbai Indians’ middle order but also has played some exceptional innings for the India national side and has been arguably the best number four.
Then Ashwin went for Mr. 360-Ab de Villiers at five who has played some sublime innings for Royal Challengers Bengaluru over the years. While RCB could not the illusive trophy during his tenure there his contributions to the franchise have been remarkable.
In the prime years of his career, there are hardly any better finishers than MS Dhoni and the off-spinner has placed him at number six and made him the captain. The former CSK skipper has won five trophies for the franchise.
As per the bowling combination Ashwin has picked up two spinners and three seamers in his bowling attack. Sunil Narine and Rashid Khan have been picked as spinners of the side. Both the players not only are skilful with the ball but can hit a few hefty blows down the order if needed.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga have formed the pace trio in Ashwin’s XI. Over the years Kumar has been a go-to new ball bowler for the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Bumrah and Malinga have been two key players for Mumbai Indians who have shouldered the responsibility of death bowling and helping them make one of the successfull sides in League’s history.
