IndiGo Flight Redirected To Jaipur After Bomb Threat Mail


An IndiGo flight bound for Lucknow from Saudi Arabia’s Dammam redirected to Jaipur airport on Wednesday after it received a threat mail claiming to have a bomb in the plane. Due to the security alert, the aircraft was isolated, and all passengers were safely disembarked.

However, after checking, no suspicious object was found.

According to ANI, Flight 6E 98, operating from Dammam (Saudi Arabia) to Lucknow, was redirected to Jaipur due to a security-related alert.

The aircraft was isolated, and all passengers were safely disembarked. We are working closely with the relevant authorities, and mandated checks are currently underway an IndiGo Spokesperson told ANI. 

Reportedly, the flight had 174 passengers on board with eight crew members. It took off from Dammam airport in Saudi Arabia and was scheduled to land at Lucknow airport. It was diverted to Jaipur after bomb threat mail.

In past two day, atleast ten flights from Indian careers have received bomb-threat messages through social media handles or mail.

The threats which were declared hoax, have prompted security agencies to undertake specific counter-terrorist drills at various airports.

On Monday, several Indian Airlines recieved bomb threat via an X handle, where seven flights from careers including SpiceJet, Air India Express, Akasa Air, etc were targetted.

This came just a day after three flights taking off from Mumbai received hoax bomb threats causing major inconvenience for passengers and airlines staff.

The seven flights that were targeted by the X handle included Air India Express flight from Jaipur to Bengaluru via Ayodhya (IX765), a SpiceJet flight from Darbhanga to Mumbai (SG116), an Akasa Air flight from Bagdogra to Bengaluru (QP 1373), an Air India flight from Delhi to Chicago (AI 127), an Indigo flight from Dammam (Saudi Arabia) to Lucknow (6E 98), an Alliance Air Amritsar-Dehradun-Delhi flight (9I 650) and an Air India Express flight (IX 684) from Madurai to Singapore.
