IPL Auction 2025 The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are preparing to contend for a fourth IPL title and further establish themselves as one of the most prosperous teams in the history of the competition. The team has experienced significant changes in preparation for the 2025 Indian Premier League after their spectacular third championship victory in 2024, when they decisively defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer.
While they let go of Shreyas, KKR brought back their other Iyer, Venkatesh, for a record-breaking Rs 23.75 crore on Day 1 of the auction, garnering headlines. By paying Rs 3.6 crore to acquire Quinton de Kock, an aggressive opener and wicketkeeper, the team further strengthened its batting lineup. Having let go of Mitchell Starc, KKR’s pace attack is heavily reliant on Harshit Rana and Vaibhav Arora to fire with left-armer Spencer Johnson hoping to recreate his senior Aussie’s magic.
Before the IPL 2025 auction, KKR strategically decided to hold onto six important players: Harshit, Ramandeep Singh (Rs 4 crore each), Rinku Singh (Rs 13 crore), Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell (Rs 12 crore each).
