Lakshya Sen vs Lee Zii Jia, Badminton Paris Olympics 2024 Men’s Singles Bronze Medal Match Live Updates: Inside 24 hours of missing out on the chance of making it to the men’s singles final, Lakshya Sen is fighting for the bronze medal at the Paris Olympics as he takes on Malaysia’s Lee Zii Jia.
The 22-year-old Lakshya Sen was 20-17 up in the first game of his semi-final against Viktor Axelsen, before allowing the former Olympic champion to draw level at 20-20, and then win the first game 22-20. In the second game as well, Lakshya Sen was leading 7-0 at one point. But then Axelsen soon caught up with him before winning the semis in two games.
The two-time Olympic medal winning Dane later admitted that Lakshya Sen had dominated numerous phases of the game before he made a recovery to make another Olympic final.
Even before Monday evening’s match for bronze, Lakshya Sen has already made history in Paris. He is the first Indian male shuttler to reach the semis of the Olympics. Before him, only Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu had made it to the semis, with both winning medals. If Lakshya Sen wins the game against Lee, this will be India’s fourth medal at Paris Olympics. So far India have won all bronze medals.
