Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy: Tilak Varma slams third consecutive T20 hundred | Cricket News

India batter Tilak Varma continued his sizzling run of form as he became the first batter to record three consecutive T20 hundreds on Saturday.

Tilak also became the first Indian man to record a 150+ score in T20s, surpassing the previous best of Shreyas Iyer (147) to finish on 151 off 67 deliveries with 14 fours and 10 sixes.

Batting first in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy opener against Meghalaya, the Hyderabad captain reached his hundred in only balls, making it the third time he crossed the mark in 10 days.

Batting at 3, Tilak crossed his half-century in 28 balls before reaching his ton in only 51 deliveries.

Tilak lit up India’s recent T20I tour to South Africa when he smashed back-to-back hundreds in Centurion and Johannesburg, helping India clinch the series 3-1.

Festive offer

Tilak incidentally became only the second batter after teammate Sanju Samson to record consecutive T20I hundreds.

Overall, the 22-year-old has scored over 2950 T20 runs in 90 innings, with four hundreds to his tally.

Tilak was one among the five players the Mumbai Indians retained ahead of the IPL 2025 auction on October 31.
