This season will be my last: Wriddhiman Saha announces retirement | Cricket News

Bengal’s Wriddhiman Saha on Sunday said that he will retire after the ongoing season of the Ranji Trophy ends.

“After a cherished journey in cricket, this season will be my last. I’m honored to represent Bengal one final time, playing only in the Ranji Trophy before I retire. Let’s make this season one to remember!” Saha posted on X.

The wicketkeeper-batter played for India in 40 Tests as well as 9 T20Is. Plus, he also played 170 matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for franchises like Kolkata Knight Riders, Punjab Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans.

It may be mentioned here that Saha’s last franchise Gujarat Titans chose not to retain him for the 2025 season, releasing the player alongside other big names like Mohammad Shami, David Miller, R. Sai Kishore and Matthew Wade.

Saha represented Bengal from 2007 to 2022 before joining Tripura for 2 years after he had a falling out with a Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) official where the said official had accused the player of making excuses for not playing the Ranji. He returned to the Bengal fold in August this year.

“I never looked at the past; I always lived in the present. I’ve started my journey from here. Now that I’m back, I will try my best to get an opportunity in the Bengal side. But at the moment, the focus is on the Bengal Pro T20 and helping the team reach the knockouts. I’ve always given more than my 100 per cent wherever I played,” Saha had said in his first media interaction after rejoining Bengal.
