Mohamed Salah once again spoke out about his contract situation after Liverpool’s 2-0 win against Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday, saying that while he was playing the match, in his mind, this was the last time he was playing the defending champions at the Reds home ground.
“Honestly it’s in my head. Until now this is the last City game I will play for Liverpool so I was just going to enjoy it. The atmosphere was incredible so I will enjoy every second here. Hopefully we just win the league and will see what will happen,” Salah said to Sky Sports.
This is the second time in two weeks the Egyptian winger has spoken out about his contract situation, having first done so in the 3-2 win against Southampton in November.
“Well, we are almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club. I’m probably more out than in,” the 32-year-old had said.
He added: “You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end it is not in my hands. As I said before, it is December and I haven’t received anything yet about my future.”
As of now Salah remains within reach of a contract with Liverpool but in another few weeks, the club legend will be able to negotiate contracts with other teams for next season. A pre-season contract signed in January will mean that Liverpool would then be unable to hold onto their star player. Salah is reportedly on a salary of 350,000 pounds a week, a number usually reserved for the league’s world-class players.
