Who is shooter Manish Narwal who won silver in Paris Paralympics? | Sport-others News


Manish Narwal, hailing from Ballabgarh, Haryana won silver in the 10-meter air pistol (SH1) Para Shooting at the Paris Paralympics 2024. Narwal has a congenital impairment in his right hand.

The 22-year-old Narwal, who had won gold in 50m pistol event at Tokyo, was leading for quite some time before he slipped because of a series of poor scores to surrender the initiative to veteran South Korean marksman Jo Jeongdu.

Narwal, the elder brother of Indian pistol marksman Shiva Narwal, shot 234.9, while Jeongdu took the gold with a total of 237.4.

Narwal’s passion for shooting was sparked in 2016 when his family took him to a local shooting range. He later began visiting the range regularly. Initially unaware of the Paralympics, he simply enjoyed competing with fellow athletes. 

The 22-year-old’s talent was soon recognized by coach Jai Prakash Nautiyal, under whose guidance Manish made his international debut at the Bangkok World Cup in 2017. Manish clinched the gold medal in the P1 – 10m Air Pistol SH1 event and set a Junior World Record at the qualification and finals.

Despite occasional challenges and low scores, Narwal remained determined to perform at his peak.

Narwal’s self-motivation and relentless drive have led him to break numerous Junior and Senior World Records. He established himself as a formidable force in the sport. A

Manish is a Paralympic and Asian Games gold medalist. He also secured a bronze at the 2022 Asian Para Games.
